Dr. Siddharth Sengupta

Dr Siddhartha SenGupta completed his doctoral research in 1982 at IIT Kharagpur. He is a Physicist and has been an investigator from high school days, experimenting with things like "winglets" on model hydrofoils. Over the last three decades Dr SenGupta has been leading applied research in the areas of Data Mining & Pattern Recognition; Automation of Planning, Scheduling, Pricing in Transportation, Logistics & Supply Chain, Retail and Manpower Planning, and Enterprise Architecture & Enterprise Engineering. Sengupta is currently sharing time between TCS and IIT Bombay. At TCS he is an Advisor to the CTO and reviews research and business in planning and scheduling systems in railways, shipping and airlines, with special focus on country-wide railway networks that are several orders of magnitude larger than what comparable systems handle. In the Dept of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, he has taught Supply Chain planning and guides students in their MTech, MSc and PhD projects and research.
